FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT DO WE DO?

You may have a clear vision for your home, but we can help you bring it to life while making sure it satisfies every consideration such as space planning and functionality. As designers, we have a trained eye and a creative mindset that allows for devising solutions that you might never have imagined. We balances aesthetic considerations with structural planning to reflect each client’s lifestyle, set the desired mood, complement the home’s architectural features and ensure that less glamorous details such as electrical outlets and air vents fit into the scheme. With special attention to even the tiniest of details and a process that clearly communicates our design intent, our goal is to bring to fruition the dream home that you had envisioned.

HOW DO WE CHARGE?

FLAT FEE RATE: Our preferred method of payment is to negotiate a flat fee figure that both parties agree with. We devise this figure by estimating the total number of job hours it would take to complete your project. We prefer this method because the client sees exactly what they are going to pay for design services upfront so there won’t be any hidden costs or surprises. The flat fee figure can be broken down with a payment schedule that is convenient to both parties.

HOURLY RATE: We also offer our design services at an hourly rate of $100 per hour. Since this method will not give you a overall cost upfront for design services, we can estimate the hours we will be spending for each phase so you get an idea of overall cost. We will provide you with a weekly tally of hours we spent on your project.

WHAT IS OUR TYPICAL PROCESS WHEN WORKING WITH A NEW CLIENT?

For every project, your first consultation covers important questions: How will you function in the space? How will that space enhance your life? Do you want the aesthetic to be beautiful enough for a magazine, or do you want functional beauty in addition? This lengthy session gets down to the bones of what the client is looking for. This is when experience enables us to make suggestions. Coupled with the client’s history and personal style, we glean over the process, successfully offering ideas that go along with the client’s thinking. For new construction and large scale remodeling projects, we have developed a design process which includes four phases and an explanation of what is expected at the end of each phase so the client knows what to expect throughout the entire project. We know that residential interior design is such an incredibly personal decision. You are allowing an outside source to bring your vision to fruition. That requires a lot of trust and faith. We feel fortunate that many of our clients walk in at the end of their project and love everything they see. That happiness at the end of the project is our motivating factor. From our in-depth consultation, to the finished project, your interior design journey takes you from blank to sanctuary.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD WE GIVE A POTENTIAL CLIENT WHO IS INTERVIEWING OTHER DESIGNERS?

There are many interior designers in Sarasota and they all have their own unique style. Based on my level of expertise, ability to adapt, and customer service, I feel that those characteristics help me to stand out from the rest. Being a native of Sarasota, I feel that also helps. Your home is your sanctuary and everyone’s version of comfort is unique. When interviewing or working with an interior designer, make sure the design they are proposing is what would work for you and your family. Function is just as important as aesthetics. At the end of the project, you have to live there, they don’t. Make sure it is your design vision that is realized.

WHAT QUESTIONS SHOULD CLIENTS THINK THROUGH BEFORE TALKING TO A PROFESSIONAL ABOUT THEIR PROJECT?

It is useful to develop a list of wants versus needs which will help determine the overall scope once budget is involved.
